Gastropods

Shansiella sp.
Gastropod
These gastropods are fairly common. On well preserved ones, as in the one to the right, you can see the growth lines.

  • Straight Shelled Nautaloids

    ??sp.
    Straight Shelled Nautoloids are common in the oily shale. However, they tend to be broken along their numerouse small chambers, and are difficuly to recover complete. Also, larger ones can be occasionally found.

  • Usally complete ones are a little over 2" (51 mm)

    This is a larger nautoloid that was smooshed before preservation. Occasionally, larger ones can be found, however, they are usually in poor condition, as the one in the picture is.

    Stereostylus sp.
    Horn Coral
    Horn coral is abundant in this marine zone. They are typically the size of the ones pictured here.
