2 7/8" Asaphiscus wheeleri from the Wheeler Formation in the House Range of Utah.
This is the best trilobite I found during the trip. It's a 2 7/8" Asaphiscus wheeleri with beautiful coloration.
This is the trilobite as found. Notice it is "Ghosted," meaning it is slightly under the matrix; only a faint raised impression can be seen.
Here is a prep sequence of the trilobite. I sent this specimen to "Crinus" on The Fossil Forum to be prepped. He did a wonderful job!
The trilobites shell is very thin and wrinkly, suggesting it may have freshly molted.
